Blonkvist Partners provides cost reduction, supply chain effectiveness and organizational leadership consultative services. We deliver these services through a number of models - hourly/daily rates, fixed-fee, and deliverables-based consulting assignments as well as temporary staffing for procurement, supply chain and program office functions.
Blonkvist Partners also has a number of supplemental connections (friends of Blonkvist Partners) that are potentially available to support our clients. These include China-based sourcing resources, Venture Capital related firms, specialized consultancies, and a variety of technology providers.
Please see below for representative service areas, client experiences, and case studies.
Blonkvist Partners is building a significant footprint in the sourcing and procurement independent consulting arena. Our resources have an array of experiences that include:
Business Case Development:
Coming from major consulting firms, we know how to write business case communications documents. Blonkvist Partners can provide compelling arguments for our clients to move forward with their initiatives based on benchmarks, spend fragmentation, inventory carrying costs, logistics costs, and implementation costs. We estimate savings and provide sensitivity analysis on the business cases developed.
Strategic Sourcing:
Blonkvist Partners resources have sourced a multitude of direct materials and indirect goods and services. Our team is experienced. We have worked with various methodologies and supplier markets. We know how to conduct sourcing both efficiently and effectively. We can work with you to:
We have extensive experience with Low-Cost-Country Sourcing, particularly in the direct materials for industrial and high-tech manufacturing. Once again, we utilize in-country independent contractors or small consultancies to deliver exceptional market intelligence and on-the-ground execution.
Blonkvist Partners resources have experience with the requisite technology enablement tools of our profession. From spend analysis toolsets (e.g. Zykus, BIQ) to eRFX and Reverse Auction Toolsets (Iasta, VerticalNet, etc) to procure-to-pay technologies (Ariba, Oracle, etc), we are intimately familiar with procurement technology enablement.
Headcount Reduction:
While not a popular subject, Blonkvist Partners has a handful of resources and strategic relationships that have significant experience with headcount reduction and redeployment. These resources understand how to identify reduction targets, design appropriate severance packages, and appropriately communicate and execute downsizing initiatives.
Sales & Operations Planning:
Sales & Operations Planning is at the heart of effective supply chain operations. Our resources have supported Fortune 100 companies with a variety of initiatives including: plant shortage meetings, product line demand planning and business unit-wide operations planning and Executive S&OP. We carefully lead our client stakeholders through demand planning and supply planning coordination in order to deliver a sustainable S&OP process, typically within 4-6 months.
We have found that the process and communications enablement drives most of the value in Sales & Operations Planning. However, a limited but growing number of our resources have forecasting and replenishment technology experience, utilizing leading technologies to deliver outstanding results.
Working Capital Reduction:
Blonkvist Partners understands the underpinnings of working capital and can efficiently identify and implement opportunities for reductions. From the strategic review of the root causes of excess inventory to extending Accounts Payable terms to improving Accounts Receivable collections, we have supported clients with this critical activity that is at the operational heart of capital management.
Procure-to-Pay Redesign:
Our resources recognize the power of effectively managing approval work-flows and funneling spend to preferred providers. Throughout our careers, many of us have worked on eProcurement designs and technical implementations in addition to procurement, operations and finance policy and procedural documentation.
Logistics & Warehousing Experience:
Blonkvist Partners is currently building out its network of experienced logistics and warehousing consultants. For example, we recently started networking with a group of former Manhattan WMS resources. We also have resources that have extensive carrier negotiation and warehouse network optimization experience. While not yet our “sweet-spot”, we believe that we can find the right resources to support your engagement needs.
Program Leadership:
Blonkvist Partners has a stable of experienced program management resources for IT, HR and Operations transformations. We know how to manage multi-facetted projects including complex IT implementations. Several resources within our network have PMP certifications. Many more have lead ERP or other significant technology implementations during their lengthy consulting careers.
It is important to note that since Blonkvist Partners does not provide technology resources, our clients get unbiased, objective counsel and effective program management. We are not on-site to sell more technology and technology consulting but to deliver your project in a timely cost-effective manner.
Coaching & Change Leadership:
Our clients often need extensive change leadership in redefining their supply chains and their demand management processes. Given our substantial experience in cost reduction and supply chain programs, Blonkvist Partners resources know how to support clients with stakeholder communications. In fact, in qualifying of resources, we view stakeholder communications as a core competency of Blonkvist Partners resources.
However, we also recognize the need to have change leadership specialists in our network who are available for initiatives across the enterprise (HR, Finance, IT, Operations, etc). These resources can effectively:
- Lead Change Leadership Initiatives
